Hey, I’m Gordon, I’m a 12-year-old male and I’m here at the Mayhew after being rescued from a life as a stray.

I’m a pretty handsome fellow – I have a very striking look with my jet-black fur contrasted with bright white whiskers & bib. But as you can see, I’m not looking quite my best at the moment!

I’m fond of people but I sometimes withdraw when I have visitors as I can be a bit wary of those I don’t know. I’ve mostly only had a ‘feeder’ relationship with people, meaning I haven’t had much physical interaction with them – just being fed & watered.

I do however, love a fuss and once I get used to a person I’ll happily let them fuss away! And what’s the best way to my heart? Through my belly! I love my food and my new owner will have to work their way into my affections from there!

I’m looking for a household with a patient owner, someone who’s willing to put the time in to earn my love and give me my own space when I need it. It’s essential that I have a garden so I can go out and be my own man from time to time. I’ll be a very rewarding companion for the right owner as I really do have a soft and loving side just waiting to come out!
