Fig
Hello, my name is Fig
I am two year old female, Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed and everyone says I am well-named because I am a sweet girl, full of love and cuddles. I came into The Mayhew after I was abandoned. I love going out and about and will make a great companion for someone who enjoys walking. I also love playing games and will chase a ball for as long as you are willing to throw it! I am housetrained and know all my basic commands and as I will do anything for a treat.
I went into a foster home over the Christmas holidays to see how I got on in a family home. Well, my foster mum and dad said that I was very calm in the house and would just snooze in the kitchen until it was time to go for a walk or enjoy a good game. I was also very good at night and as soon as they said ‘bed’, I would settle down and not make a sound until the next morning. I love travelling in the car or on the train so I had lots of fun when we went to stay with three different relatives over New Year. They all agreed I was the perfect guest because I am fully housetrained and slept quietly wherever they put my bed. On lead I walked nicely by my foster parents’ side and after just a few days they could let me off the lead because I always came back when called. I am not madly interested in playing with other dogs but am quite happy to say ‘hello’ and let them sniff me before carrying on with my walk. Although I am very friendly with people, I don’t jump up at them and am also very gentle with children. I love my food and toys but don’t worry, you can take anything away from me without a problem Now that the Christmas holidays are over I am back in kennels and ready to go to my forever home.
I am looking for someone who has either owned a Staffie before or has researched my breed type and would enjoy taking me to training classes as much as I would enjoy going. I could live with another dog providing our introductions went well. I wouldn’t be happy living with cats. I would fit perfectly into a loving family as I can live happily with children and would make a wonderful companion for active owners who will give me one to two hours of off lead exercise daily in a park or open space. As I just chill-out when left alone I would not mind if my new people worked fulltime providing I’m not left alone for longer than four to five hours without a break e.g by hiring a dog walker, pet sitter or coming home at lunch time etc. So, if you are looking for a lovely family dog and understand that you will be taking on a fourteen-year commitment, which must not be taken lightly, then I am just the girl for you!
Hope to see you soon
