Hello, my name is Mally

I am a six year old male Mastiff and I am the original gentle giant. I was brought into The Mayhew when my family moved home and their new landlord would not let them bring me with them.

Although I am a very big boy, I am very calm, sensible and patient and proud to report that I don’t have any vices, unless you count a certain amount of snoring and drooling! I am toilet trained and well behaved. I’m a peaceful boy and although I love to play, I don’t jump around. As a guarding breed, I can be protective and sometimes bark when people first come to visit me but very quickly get to know visitors and I’m gentle and friendly with them. Although I am very sociable and affectionate, providing I got plenty of attention when you are at home, I could live with someone who worked fulltime as long as I’m not left alone for longer than four to five hours without a break e.g. by hiring a dog walker, pet sitter or coming home at lunch time etc. I enjoy an hour of off lead exercise everyday in the park, I much prefer to walk on grass than on the pavement. I like to keep you in sight and my recall is very good. I love a good game of ball and will always bring it back. I walk to perfect heel on my lead. If I see another dog whilst on my lead I will bark at them, once off-lead I will play with other dogs. I also travel well in the car.

I’m gentle and affectionate and love to be stroked but I don’t pester for attention. I bond very quickly with people and I would dearly love to find my forever family. I would like to find a home with a garden with someone who has owned dogs before and has researched my breed type. I am so well mannered it is not necessary to take me to training classes. I could live with another female dog providing it was a good match and I can live with children age ten years and upwards. All I really want is to become an important part of your life and if you return my love and loyalty, you will have the most faithful friend in the world.
