Pumpkin

Hello, my name is Pumpkin

I’m an eighteen month old female crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned on the streets of London.

Although I am a very affectionate and smart girl I have been with the Mayhew Animal Home for a whole year. I am now in a foster home with a smashing dog trainer and five doggy housemates. I get on really well with all of them and we have loads of fun. My foster mum takes me to weekly agility classes and I really enjoy having a blast around all the equipment, especially the tunnels. I have even got the hang of the v-weaves. I love to learn and have been doing some clicker work and now go to swimming lessons too. I was so well behaved recently at a local dog show, I won first prize in the Best Rescue Dog category! My other favourite things are long walks, especially on the beach and lots and lots of lovely cuddles. I am housetrained and settle downstairs quietly at night with my doggy friend Rex. I don’t like being left on my own but I can now be left alone for nearly an hour providing I’ve had a good run before hand. If I’m left for longer periods I become anxious and cry but I am not messy or destructive. I am good off-lead and always come when called. Strangers worry me and I will bark at them to warn them off. I will also bark at visitors to the house I’ve not met before but once I know them they’re warmly welcomed and I soon prove what an affectionate girl I can be. I can be nervous of strange dogs and occasionally will bark if I come across them, but I quickly relax when introduced to them. I travel well and fit right in with the other dogs in my foster home when we go caravanning.

Although I have a busy active life, I still long for a my own forever home with understanding people who will allow me time to settle down and adjust to a new routine. I am looking for loving new guardians who are experienced dog owners and will continue to take me to training classes and hopefully enjoy agility as much as I do! I love company so I will need a home where there is someone around most of the time. I would also benefit from sharing my new home with a sociable, well-mannered dog or even dogs. As I am an energetic girl and need one to two hours off-lead exercise a day in an open space or park, I would do well with an active family and could happily live with older sensible children aged 14 + who are used to dogs. Although I am a big bouncy girl I am also well-mannered and have a sweet sensitive side and my foster mum says I am a joy to have around as I make her laugh with my playful antics. So, if you can find a place for me in your home and your heart, in return I will give you lots of love and keep you fit at the same time. My new guardians will be taking on a twelve year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.

Hope to see you soon
