Deacon
Hello, my name is Deacon
I am an eleven month old male, Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned of the streets of London.
I am a typical young pup: lively, bouncy and very, very loving. I am now in a foster home and my foster mum takes me to training classes where I have learnt lots of basic commands like sit, down and roll over! I have also learnt to walk well on lead. As I am a smart boy I soon realised that we get to the park much quicker if I walk nicely because my foster mum stops and walks the other way when I pull on the lead! I am very friendly with other dogs and everyone I meet. I love children and have learnt to say hello calmly rather than jumping up to greet them. I am quiet in the house: no barking and I can be left alone for up to three hours without any trouble, so long as you don’t leave any shoes around for me to chew! I am fully housetrained and like to sleep in the bedroom at night but stay quietly in my basket and I don’t jump on the bed or the furniture. I take treats gently, love to play and am not possessive with toys and I travel well in the car.
I am looking for a forever home with patient people who have owned dogs before and will be fair but firm with me and continue to take me to training classes. I would make a great addition to a family but would do equally as well with an active couple or single person providing they can give me a minimum of one hour off-lead exercise a day, in a park or open space. I could live with young children providing they are used to lively and bouncy dogs. I could also share my new home with a mature and sociable female dog so long as she was a good role model for me.
My new guardians will need to be fully prepared for the hard work involved in caring for a dog and a fifteen year commitment which must not be taken lightly. As my foster mum says ‘ I’m worth it’ and adds: ‘Everyone loves Deacon but then again what’s not to love!’
I hope to see you soon
