Rudy (Reserved)

Hello, my name is Rudy

I am a two year old male, Jack Russell Terrier. I arrived at The Mayhew when my previous owner died

I’m a spritely little fellow and I always greet everyone I know with a wagging bottom. I didn’t receive much exercise in my previous home, this together with too many treats has meant my waist band is much bigger than it should be. Now I’m in a foster home and as I am getting plenty of exercise, a sensible diet and not too many treats it shouldn’t take too long for me to get my figure back. I love going out and about and I walk well on the lead. Due to my previous lack of socialisation I don’t get on well with other dogs or strangers so I have to wear a muzzle and a long line when I'm in the park. Still, I don’t really mind as I am now getting very used to being muzzled. My future owners will need to take care with new visitors to the house - anyone who seems untrustworthy in my eyes could possibly receive a snap to their ankle on first meetings.

I am now looking for a forever home with calm experienced owners who will give me all the exercise and stimulation an active boy like me needs. That means a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise daily in a park or open space. Although I love human company, I can be left on my own for a couple of hours without any problems but it is not yet known if I can be left alone for longer periods. I am a well-behaved and quiet boy in the house and after the first night in my foster home settled down in my bed in the kitchen at night. I am also house trained and I respond well to commands. I love to play with my toys especially if someone joins in the game; my favourite is fetch. I also LOVE my cuddles, especially belly rubs and having my chest scratched. I travel really well in the car and just curl up on the front seat.

I'm looking for loving new owners who are around for most of the day. I need a home without children but I would not mind living with teenagers over sixteen.

My foster mum says that I am a clever boy with a big personality and will make a devoted little companion. My new guardians will be taking on a twelve year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.

I hope to see you soon,

Rudy x
