Hello, my name is Ronnie
I’m an eight year old male Working Cocker Spaniel. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owners moved to a property which didn't allow pets.
I am a friendly and sweet natured boy and I always greet everyone I meet with a waggy tail. I am toilet trained, I cope well with being left on my own and I travel well in the car. I also know all the usual commands which I respond well to. I love going to the park and I enjoy sniffing around. I'm not keen on other dogs, I'll ignore them if they keep their distance but I don't like it if they get too close. For this reason need controlled exercise, wearing a muzzle and longline on my daily walks in the park. I am super affectionate and I always enjoy being stoked. I especially enjoy it when my foster carer invites me up on the sofa for a cuddle. I also love being groomed.
I am now looking for a forever home with a sensible and experienced owner who has researched my breed type. I would happily live with sensible children from twelve years of age and upwards but I'll need to be the only pet in the household. I will need a home which is out of town in an area where I can be exercised without coming into constant contact with lots of other dogs. I would happily live with someone who works full-time providing I'm not left alone for longer than four hours without a break, either by hiring a dog walker, pet sitter or by coming home to me at lunch-time. My new owners will be expected to continue my training and provide me with a minimum of one hour of controlled off lead exercise every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, which must not be taken lightly.
