Hello, my name is Kai

I’m an eight month old male Golden Retriever. I arrived at The Mayhew because my owner decided to emigrate.

I am a very friendly bouncy and playful boy. I get along well with everyone I meet and I also get along well with other dogs and I love to meet up with them for a play in the park. I know the usual commands which I respond well to and I'm learning manners. I love to play with my toys, my favourites are tennis balls. I'm also very affectionate and I enjoy nothing more than cuddling up next to people for attention and giving kisses if allowed.

I am now looking for a forever home with someone who has owned dogs before and has researched my breed type. I would happily live with sensible children from eight years of age and upwards who will be consistent with my training and I could live with another dog. I could also live with a dog-confident cat who will put me in my place and won't run from me otherwise I will playfully chase them. It is not yet known how long I cope being left alone for so I will need a home where there is somebody around for most of the day. My new owners will be expected to continue my training, take me to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of off lead exercise in the park every day. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on a fourteen year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
