Job Title: Events Volunteer

Responsible To

Events Co-ordinator

Main Objectives

• To man a stall at a fundraising event with the purpose of raising funds and raising awareness through talking to members of the public attending the event

Main Duties

Customer Service

• To be polite and courteous at all times
• To acknowledge all members of the public visiting the stall and respond to their questions/needs
• To promote the stated objectives and policies of The Mayhew, avoiding personal opinion if this is inconsistent with Mayhew policy

Raising Funds

• To raise money for The Mayhew via the sale of merchandise or collection of donations
• To be proactive in the sale of goods and promotion of Friends membership, sponsorship and other initiatives e.g. Christmas Catalogue
• To be responsible when handling money and collecting Friends membership

Raising Awareness

• To raise awareness of the work that The Mayhew Animal Home carries out, to gain support, educate, and promote initiatives e.g. Staffie Neutering Campaign, International Work
• To look for opportunities to hand out information e.g. Mayhew Magazine, Christmas Catalogue, Adoption process etc.

Setting up / Packing Up

• To set-up the stall so it looks attractive and information, goods and prices are well displayed
• To ensure that by the use of banners and A-frames that it is obvious the stall belongs to The Mayhew Animal Home
• To ensure that money is safely stored and membership collected is clearly labelled

Feedback

• To provide feedback to the Events Co-ordinator about how well the event went, and where things could be improved

To apply for the Events Volunteer role at The Mayhew Animal Home, you must print and fill in two forms, our main Volunteer Application Form, and an Events Volunteer Application Form. If you are applying for more than one volunteering vacancy at The Mayhew, you only need to send the main volunteer application form once.

Upon receipt of your application form you will either be invited to The Mayhew Animal Home for an informal interview (usually on a Thursday or Sunday) to discuss your application further, or if your application is unsuccessful you will be sent a letter or email notifying you that we will not be taking your application any further on this occasion. We aim to acknowledge your application within two weeks of receipt.
