In October 2006, The Mayhew Animal Home was threatened with a yearly bill of almost £2000 and the loss of the charity's main Animal Ambulance, due to the implementation of a Controlled Parking Zone by Hammersmith & Fulham Council. Immediately The Mayhew began campaigning against this imposition and the huge impact that would be made upon its work and the lives of animals in the local area. Support came from various quarters, including Brian Sewell, Andrew Sachs, Wendy Turner Webster, The Willesden & Brent Times and London Tonight. We also ran a petition online which was highly persuasive and generated almost 1400 signatures. We are now pleased to report that Hammersmith & Fulham Council have conceded and granted The Mayhew Animal Home three Animal Ambulance bays and funds to cover the costs of parking fees for its fourth vehicle. Thanks to all who supported The Mayhew Animal Home in this campaign. Without your help the lives of many animals in the local area would have suffered.
