Focusing mainly on companion animal issues, The Mayhew’s International Programme (Mayhew International) works to promote humane treatment of street animal populations and to improve the welfare of stray cats and dogs through humane education and community veterinary initiatives.

We provide information and advice on the establishment and running of shelters and sterilisation programmes. We have collaborative projects with other organisations and university veterinary faculties to provide low-cost veterinary services to local communities. We also assist government officials and local authorities in an advisory capacity with regards to improving animal welfare conditions under their jurisdictions.

Our relief efforts have stretched from neighbouring European countries to places as far afield as Afghanistan, Russia and Zimbabwe.
